2003 Year End Update

Home Page

Greetings in our Savior's Name!

On February 15, my wife Marie and I will have entered into our 57th year
of Evangelism.  I cannot begin to tell you the joy that God has given to
us for allowing us to serve him these many years. When a Preacher Boy at
Bob Jones University we were required to list the miles we traveled each
weekend, and the number of people to whom we witnessed about Christ, the
number of folks saved and the miles we traveled.  I am not going to try
that.  I am just going to say that the trip has been most pleasant, and
the meetings most rewarding.

Let me just round up 2003.  We started the year by moving our home from
Rocky Mount, N.C. to Denver, Colorado, where we could be nearer our
family.  Our youngest daughter (all my boys are girls!) is married to
Ross Davis, who pastors the Littleton Baptist Church in Denver, and my
oldest daughter married Dan Mauldin, who pastors in the Grace Baptist
Church of Farmington, N.M.  So, we drive across town to see Julie and
Ross, and only 6 hours over the Rockies to see Debbie and Dan......AND
THE GRANDKIDS!  We live now at Eden Manor, a
high rise apartment complex, where we reside on the fifth floor in a
three room apartment. We love it!  Denver is where we raised the children
from 1958 to 1973, and has always been home to us.  January of 2003 was
spent, with the first week of February, in moving in!  We vowed, when the
last box was brought in, that the only move that we would make would be
straight up! But we now reside, when we're home, at Eden Manor, #505,
3405 N. 32nd Ave, Denver, CO. 80211.  Our e-mail is philshuler@juno.com.

Our first meeting of the year was at Oasis Baprtist Church in Las Vegas,
NV, for Dan Dion. We went from there to the Hamilton Baptist Church,
where Dr. Dave Innis presides.  We always have an unusually good meeting
with this old friend.  After the Board Meeting at BJU, we went to Canada
for two meetings: in Winnipeg for Sam Sousa, and in Edmonton with Jim
Tillitson.  These two men are building strong fundamental churches.
Then, back to the states and in Indianapolis with Dr. Charlie Kittrell.
This is about our sixth meeting with Charlie, one of the greatest prayer
warriors I have ever met!  While there, I preached a Sunday for my good
friend Dr. Tony Slutz at  Thompson Road  Baptist Church.  From
Indianapolis we went to Oak wood, GA. and Dr. Charles Britt, an old
friend and true!  He pastors in Clayton, GA..
This was followed by Myron McIntyre at Faith Baptist Church.   It was
nostalgic,  held in  town my mother was born in; Old Jonesbobo, TN. I
preached one night in the Judge's quarters, overlooking my mother's
plantation, named Wheatland.  What a thrill that was!  From there we went
to Norfolk, NB where a classmate of mine, Dr. George Heusinger, pastors.
George has been there since BJU.  What a jewel!  The next meeting needs
an introduction.  There is a lawyer whose office is in Minneapolis, who
is one of the finest Christians I have met.  He is a dedicated man when
it comes to the leading of our Lord.  God laid on his heart the need of
an inter-church in the worst area of that city, so he went out and bought
an old brown-stone church that would hold about a thousand.  I have held
Roger Magnuson four meetings now, starting with a congregation of some 85
people, to holding a meeting to a full house!  We rested a week prior to
the meeting in a camp in Wisconsin, and then were in his church,
Straitgate, the next week.  The next week we were with one of my "best
buddies," Charlie Jacobs, in Moweaque, IL. This is the church where
Charlie was saved.  He now pastors there with a fine congregation of
wonderful people.  Charlie restored my old 1930 Model A Ford coupe, and
does his "country" calling in it.  It looks brand new!
>From Charlie's place we went to Godfrey, IL. for Tom Olney, a friend of
some 40 years or so.  While in the state of Illinois, we preached for
Bill Pierce in Bartonville,  Had a good meeting there. After Brother
Pierce, we headed back to Colorado, to Loveland and Bruce Miller.  This
was a newer work, and doing well. From Loveland, we went to Greeley CO.,
where Dan Unruh pastors the Westside Baptist Church.  We held this
meeting in a school auditorium.
In November we were with our Son-in-law, Dr. Ross Davis, in Littleton
Baptist Church. We had only been a member there one year, and had hardly
been home because of our schedule, so it was a sweet meeting to us.  From
Colorado we went to Granit City Baptist Church and it's pastor, Dennis
Campbell.  Another old friend.  We closed the year with Mark Pittman at
the Wayside Baptist Church. Then, home for Christmas and rest.

To all our friends, who probably we won't see until we reach heaven,
God's very best to you and yours.  We have some openings for revivals in
2004.  Drop me an e-mail at
